Active since the middle 90s, Matteo Uggeri has started his musical activity in the field of industrial music (with the monikers of Der Einzige and then Normality/Edge), to progressively move to more melodic-oriented forms. As Barnacles, he's now back into obsessive rhythms and obscure drones, at the point that his music has been described as "panic-inducing in nature". Under his own name or with the inclassificable band he founded in 2005, Sparkle in Grey, he collaborated with many other artists, such as Controlled Bleeding, Nocturnal Emissions, De Fabriek, Deison, Telepherique, Bourbonese Qualk/Simon Crab, OvO, and M.B./Maurizio Bianchi.
The first Barnacles gig was at Macao in this concert:
